The AfterParty Season One Recap: NO SPOILERS

A lot of people have been asking me, if they MUST watch the first season of The AfterParty, to enjoy season two. My answer is yes and no. It's not going to be hard to follow along, if you know a few little tid bits from season one, so I'm here to help!

Season two debuts TONIGHT at midnight, PST, and I can't wait to see episodes one and two, AGAIN!!! This is the show that you need to watch a couple of times, because HELLO!!!!! It's a murder mystery. The problem is, it's not just any murder mystery, it's also a comedy, so you're sucked in, in multiple aspects of entertainment. Chris, Phil, and Anthony, did a great job this season, of really bringing the genres in, and making it so much more hilarious and special. First things first, let's get you filled in on what we learned in season one. NO SPOILERS AHEAD, just in case you want to watch season one!!

The Relevant Characters of Season One:
-Detective Danner: Super spunky, marches to the beat of her own drum, the higher ups don't trust her, but she's got great determination and has her own way of solving murders. She also has a little bit of trauma and trust issues, from her first years as a cop.
-Aniq: Super spunky and a little awkward, yet super lovable. He may become your favorite character in the whole thing! He's in love with Zoe, but Zoe has a child and is eh, not really attached, but has someone in the way.
-Zoe: Super sweet, loyal, and kind hearted. Formerly married to Brett, whom she shares a child with and he still loves her.
-Xavier: Victim of season one.
-Brett: Zoe's ex and the father of her child.

There's really no other cast members that are mentioned or flow over, besides the murderer. I will not divulge any information except that, if you don't want spoilers for season one, you need to watch it before you see season two. (BUT, season two is insanely better than season one, so with my tid bits, you can just read here and not worry about watching season one. The murderer will be mentioned, in season two, because they do reference season one's murder. How can they not? Danner, Aniq, and Zoe have so much history there!)

The three main characters that will cross from season one to season two are, Danner, Aniq, and Zoe. As you've seen in the previews, Zoe's sister is getting married and at some point during the wedding weekend, the groom is murdered. (Literally giving away ZERO spoilers here... Not even telling you WHEN the groom dies, but if you've seen the name of the show, it's obvious.) In season one, Danner came in and interviewed everyone before her Captain got there. She has her own way of interviewing, which is where each episode comes into play. She calls their experiences, "Mind Movies". These Mind Movies, are portrayed by each character, the way they see it in their mind, and that's where the genres come in. For example, as you've seen in the previews, episode two, is Jane Austen inspired. So one of the characters, sees her mind movie, as a Jane Austen film. Every character who gives their portrayal, has a different genre, which is one reason how this show sucks you in! The cast is constantly reinventing the character and portraying a new genre, each episode. It was hilarious to film, and it's hilarious to watch.

I mean, that's pretty much it, to get you started.
I'm sure you'll see little things along the way, where you feel like you missed something, but that's ok, you'll figure it out. Each season is a whole new murder and a new story. There was no cliffhanger at the end of season one, that will be involved in season two, so no worries!!

OH, and of course this is super important. Detective Danner loves to eat. :-D
