Softest, Silkiest Legs

I know I normally post recipes and helpful gluten free living tips on my blog, but today, I discovered the trick to getting the softest and silkiest legs.

It all started yesterday when Clint and I were out shopping. We weren't shopping for anything specific but recently I have been "shopping" for some sugar body scrub. Let me just tell you, sugar body scrub is NOT cheap, even at Walmart. I finally just decided to do some research and found a recipe for sugar scrub that I could make with things I had on hand at home. When all said and done, this scrub probably cost me $3 to make and it made a lot!!! This sugar scrub is not the key to the soft and silky legs tho, this is just one of the steps!!! Below is the recipe for this at home sugar scrub and the steps to the silkiest legs I have ever had!!! Seriously, I was shocked enough that I'm posting it to a recipe blog!!!

Scrub:
-2 1/2 Cups of Sugar (Yes, just normal sugar)
-1 Cup of oil (I used Olive Oil and of course, I smell a little like Olive Oil. You can also use Canola, Vegetable, Avocado, Coconut or any fragranced body oil you have).
-5 Tablespoons of a citrus juice. Preferably fresh squeezed. (I used Key Lime)

Bath Time:
-Draw you a warm/hot bath.
-Soak for about five minutes.
-Shave one leg.
-Take a palm full of your homemade sugar scrub and scrub that leg and then rinse off.
-Shave your leg again. Yes, again.
-Take a palm full of sugar scrub and scrub your leg again.
-Repeat on your other leg.
-After your bath, dry off and then lotion your legs.

When you shave your leg the first time, obviously, it's going to remove the hair. When you scrub after you shave, it removes any dead skin. By shaving your leg again after you use the sugar scrub, you are getting all of that dead skin off of your leg. You will need to rinse your razor frequently (you will see why).

    2. I don't even use anything. But if you have lemon juice or lime juice hanging out in the fridge, use that.

    4. SO, I went to the dollar tree and got a small box of sugar. I also got a HUGE bottle of lemon juice. I had Lavander baby oil at home. All together I spent under $3.00 !

If your thoughts are like mine, your original idea may be * CITURS!? that's going to burn!*

WRONG! the *sting* level on a scale of 1-10 is 0-1 . NO JOKE! I actually burn and cut my self A LOT when I shave... good razors or CHEAPO. they both work exceptionally well!!! and yes... the tub gets filthy... and VERY SLIPPERY!!

Don't worry about sitting in ur own filth, just drain the tub and turn the shower on.

you feel softer than a babies butt when you get out!! =] cheers on this scrub!! I LOVE IT!!

  2. I tried this today and LOVED it!! I cut the recipe in half b/c I was running low on sugar and I used half olive oil and half coconut oil. Worked beautifully and my legs are softer than they've ever been! I suggest soaking in the bath and then sitting on the side to do the shaving and scrubbing, the water was pretty gross by the time I was done! Luckily I had thought about that before hand!

    1. What is the best thing to shave with? Shave gel, soap or just water n razor

      Delete
    2. I actually use coconut oil for shaving. You just need to run hot water through the razor periodically so clear out the hair but it's really good for your skin.

      Delete
    3. I actually use my hair conditioner! It's wonderful, and much cheaper than shave gel. :)

    4. Haha I thought that I was the only one who used hair conditioner!! It works magically!

    5. I use hair conditioner also only bc the kind i bought makes my hair really limp and fly away, u can also use it for laundry softner.

    6. Baby oil is also great to use for shaving...

  4. Trying this with coconut oil. I already use coconut oil when I shave (it leaves my legs feeling amazing plus it seems to extend the life of my razor instead of clogging it up like shaving lotions) but adding a scrub would be a bonus!

    1. I did this with coconut oil but since coconut oil is solid at room temperature, it didn't work too well. It really didn't work in the shower when I tried to use it there, bath was okay because I could put the jar into the tub to warm it up.

I recommend any other type of oil.

      Delete
    2. All you have to do it set your container in the bath water and the coconut oil will liquify in about 30 seconds. Coconut Oil is one of the best things for your skin. It has healing and antiseptic properties that some other oils don't have.

      Delete
    3. Put your coconut oil in a bowl and WHIP IT!! 6 or 7 minutes will make it all light and fluffy, and NEVER HARD, if your house is really warm, it might thicken up again....but keep in a cooler spot and never hard, easy to use!!

      Delete
    4. Thanks Stacy! I'm trying to whip my coconut oil this AM...:-)

  5. How long will the scrub last, like can I make it and still use it 2 days later?

    1. Yeah just put it in a sealed container. I like to keep my scrubs in mason jars. :]

      Delete
    2. I think it has a very long shelf life but that's only if you let it last that long!!! Mine was gone within a month!!!

      Delete
    3. you'll want to make sure you do not get any water in the scrub, so do not use your hands, otherwise bacteria can grow.

      Delete
    4. And make sure the container is sealed tight especially in the summer. 'Cause ants love this stuff too. So also make sure there is no residue on your tub for the same reason.

      Delete
    5. I absolutely loved it ---however, I didn't use citrus. I used lavender oil. Smells wonderful.....and so relaxing. Guess what friends are getting for Christmas.....getting my mason jars soon!!!

      Delete
    6. i use the same. my reciepie is brown sugar and J&J baby oil. can i ask you what is the reason of adding the citrus?

    1. Try a different oil. Jojoba oil is my favorite-- very little smell and it doesn't leave me feeling oily. I use it on my scalp when it's really dry in the winter (at night-- wash out in the morning).

    2. Thank you ladies for the input but please remember that my recipes and things I create are made from things that I already have on hand.

  7. I get my sugar scrub at walmart for like 5 bucks and it lasts me for a month at least. It's made by tree hut. you can get it at Ulta and some Bed Bath and Beyond stores too. Don't buy it at target though. they double the price on it.

    1. I use the same thing and I absolutely love it! I think it was a really good price and I love the way it smells.

    3. What are the ingredients in this scrub? Does it contain Minoli or Baby Oils? I try to stay away from those two oils. If you do not use them on a consistent basis, they will dry out your skin. They are formulated that way so that you are constantly purchasing them and using them. (I learned this when I worked for a beauty company called Arbonne.)

      Delete
    4. Arbonne makes a great bronzer!!

      Delete
    5. i use the shea sugar body scrub i didnt see baby oils or minoli but i dont know what to really look for mine is in coconut lime its amazing but i like making my own too

      Delete
    6. Not to totally go off topic, but oddly enough, I bought a facial lotion for $45 from Arbonne (and I NEVER spend that much money on stuff but I was desperate)...turned out that Arbonne seemed to be formulated that way too because it was great for awhile then dried my skin really bad when I didn't use it 2x a day...so I just weaned my skin off of it and won't buy it again. Avon's oil-free lotion is $16 and worked much better, and still works 6 mo later.

      Delete
  8. baby Oil is awesome too.. however my skin is so sensitive I can't shave and scrub the same day.

    1. I love shaving my legs with baby oil, it leaves them so soft! But...it also leaves my bathtub all oily! Any solutions?

      Delete
    2. Dish soap! it's great for cutting grease abd works great on tubs!

      Delete
    3. I spray my tub with one part Dawn Dish Soap and one part Vinegar solution. Then rinse really well because the dish soap is very slippery too!!!!

      Delete
    4. Do you put baby oil on before or after you shave?

      Delete
    5. If you use dish soap as a bubble bath your tub will be much cleaner when you're finished

      Delete
    6. Baby oil is mineral oil which is really bad for your skin (and body) because it's made from petroleum. Ladies, please try to remember that your skin is your body's largest organ and whatever you put ON your body will also be absorbed INTO your body. I make sure to use products that contain only natural/organic ingredients found in nature. :)

      Delete
  9. I've been doing this for years as a hand scrub. I use mineral oil and have added a few drops of fragranced oil, like lavender.

    1. me too! after i hand wash teh dishes, i put a tsp of sugar and some drops of evoo mix to a paste, and scrub my hands. rinse well, then dry. amazingly smooth and soft hands, plus the friction from the scrub in really relaxing!

  10. Try adding vanilla extract to your scrub. I make mine at home and the vanilla helps to calm the skin. Also, coffee grinds work too - helps with circulation under the skin. I love using it, and I make these as presents for friends :)

  11. You should actually use your scrub before ever shaving. If you have any impacted follicles or ingrown hairs (such as in keratosis pilaris) it will help free them for a better shave the first time around. It is also gentler on the skin.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree with this. You should exfoliate to remove dead cells etc, and then only shave once. Shaving twice over the same spot is what will give you razor burns.

      Delete
    2. That's what I do. I find that crubbing shaved legs hurts. A lot.

      Delete
    3. I actually discovered this fact by mistake ( I read this at 1am and was feeling so awful I combined it with a detox bath I found... I feel great now lol) anyway its the closest smoothest shave I've ever had. I used dollar store toss away razors and I'm glad because getting that gunk out even with hot water was a total pain.

      Delete
  12. Do you need to keep it refrigerated between uses? I'd think the juice would cause it to spoil.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Since the formula contains no water, there's nothing to spoil. The juice acts as an antioxidant and will slow the oil(s) from going rancid. I recommend, though, to use a spoon or scoop of some kind to get the scrub out of the jar. This will minimize the addition of water to the jar, which could cause the growth of nasties. Another option would be to scoop out what you need just for that bath with dry hands or a scoop and place it in a separate container.

      Delete
    2. I did not refrigerate. I kept it in my shower in a sealed container for uses between "Silky Leg Baths".

      Delete
    3. Thank you for posting about the water adding bacteria, etc. I hadn't thought about that--I put mine in a plastic container, but have been using my hands.
I decided to use an empty, cleaned out, International House coffee creamer container.

    4. That's a great idea!!

  13. Just shave with water, or soap/body wash/shaving cream, or what?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The scrub has oil in it which makes lathering unnecessary. The oil allows the razor to glide smoothly over the skin and creates a closer shave. You don't need to keep it refrigerated, just make sure you mix it in something with a lid, like tupperware.

      Delete
    2. I am with Lisa on this one! I didn't need any type of lather because I scrubbed before hand and it worked as a "shaving oil".

      Delete
  14. I use coco scented baby oil (found in the baby section of most stores, I use the Johnson and Johnson brand). It's lighter than most other oils, and when mixed with the sugar smells AMAZING!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Can you use the scrub to shave other parts of your body also?

    1. I have tried it under my arms, worked pretty good! Not too sure about "other" areas though....not sure if I want scented oil on those areas but if you try it, let me know how it works. ;~}

    2. I have sensitive skin in those "other" areas and sometimes in my under arms so I have not tried that. Let me know how it is tho!!!

    3. I tried it under my arms, as mentioned above and it was AMAZING! Did try the scrub on my bikini area too. Super smooth too! I would suggest not scrubbing too hard or too long. I have sensitive skin...all over...but this doesn't seem to have a negative affect on me. If you try any "other" area you can let me know how that went. I'm easy to find on Google and Yahoo!.

    5. Im wondering if it can also be used as a facial scrub? without the shaving of course?

  16. I substituted the olive oil for organic coconut oil. I also added the vanilla and coffee grounds. My legs are soft and silky. I am so ecstatic right now. C: thanks so much!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Warm milk and coffee grounds works great too! Follow up with some virgin coconut oil and you'll have the softest skin ever.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Does the citrus juice just add scent, or does it do something important?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Pretty much any kind of citrus juice (pineapple in particular) acts as another kind of exfoliant. You've heard of glycolic acid? That's exactly what it is: acids derived from fruits.

  27. I've just recently seen information about this sugar scrub. How is it any better than other body scrubs?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I use to sell products for a company called "Arbonne". It is make up, skin products, etc. Nothing in our line of products contained baby oil and minoli oils. That is because at first, those make your skin so soft, but you will notice, as you go days without using it, your skin starts to dry out. This is because those oils dry out your skin if you aren't using them. This is very crazy, I know. I have no idea why it is like that, but it is. Olive oil does not do that and is very good for you, inside and out!

      Delete
  28. Something to be considered is you really shouldn't use this while soaking in the tub. You'll want to soak and then sit on the edge or stand because sugar is bad for your lady parts.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They key here is you only soak before you scrub and shave. I wouldn't want to sit in that water after all that dead skin and nastiness is floating in the water anyway! It's not good for your girlie parts, but it's ok for this considering you aren't really "soaking" after you shave. :)

  50. I have been making my own sugar scrub for years and have played around with a lot of different recipes. One of the reasons sugar scrub is so great is that when you scrub moistened legs, the sugar starts to melt into little rounded spheres; as opposed to crushed apricot seeds which most scrubs contain. Because the crushed seeds retain their shape (which under a microscope you'd see has razor sharp and pointed edges) they actually leave minuscule cuts all over your skin! Some additions to try with your next batch of scrub: ALOE gel or juice slows any bacterial growth in the scrub and provides healing to the skin; SUNFLOWER OIL is a little lighter than olive or coconut oil and has no scent so I can add any scent I choose; LAVENDER BUDS for scent and makes the sugar "pretty" for gifts; LEMON OR ORANGE ZEST for scent and color; ALMOND EXTRACT for a yummy scent - my hubby said I smelled like Christmas cookies and he could not get close enough to me! CINNAMON for scent and vigor!

  53. So I just used this last night. My legs have NEVER been this smooth! I didn't have time to soak, so I just poured water on my legs, scrubbed the stuff on, rinsed it and then shaved. I'm never going back to shaving cream again!! :) Do you think it could work as an all over body scrub like once or twice a month? I love how my legs feel.. I could use that silkyness all over! Especially my elbows.. they dry out easily.

    1. Yes, you could use this all over your body. It is natural. This is an exfoliator. Great in the summer to keep you smooth and deffinetely when the heat starts being used.....and your skin dry's out. I love it. Experiment with your fragrence oils. Guess what the girls are getting for Christmas.....

  54. I heard about the sugar/olive oil scrub a couple years ago, and have used just the two ingredients. I have added citrus zest for color and fragrance, but don't always. My husband has actually found that he likes to exfoliate with it sometimes too, so I don't add anything girly smelling.

~~Pregnant & nursing moms will be happy to know that rubbing OLIVE OIL on sore or chapping nipples is okay for babies, and cheaper than buying the creams that are so heavily recommended by "doctors".

About Petrolatum: "In the 1850s, chemist Robert Chesebrough started the process of distilling and cleaning the thick gel found on oil wells. By 1870, Vaseline was being sold in the United States."

If you're going to use oil, might as well make it natural! I use coconut and jojoba, but olive oil works great too...

  60. OMG. I tried this and it has changed my life. I used it on face too then washed it off with my face soap. I have never felt this soft. YOU ARE AMAZING. P.s I also added imitation vanilla extract. YOU ROCK!!!!

  61. Can i use freshly sqeezed lemons for the juice?

  62. I use plain old conditioner for shaving. This sounds amazing! I WILL USE IT!

  63. I have lemon juice, but it's not fresh squeezed...will that still work?

  64. just did this. my legs feel incredibly soft. I have very sensitive skin so we will see if it feels like this tomorrow.

  65. Ok so I HATE to shave my legs, so much that I only shave my legs once a month. Not that I'm lazy but because I hate razor burn that much. I even bought the NoNo! but that has done nothing for me, $100 waste. My boyfriend hates that I don't shave my legs so I have been looking around for options that could help without spend alot of money. After reading all of the comments I'm very convinced that this will work so I'm exited to make some for myself. I would like to add coffee grounds as suggested from others too but I don't know how much I should use. I also have fresh squeezed lemon juice that comes in a plastic lemon. Could I use that with vanilla extract? If so how much?

  66. Sweet almond oil... Would that be any good? Its all I got!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Ladies, you must all try this!! Its amazing! I used lime juice and took a cup in the shower with me so I could really rinse my razor out. Typically razors should only be used 5-6 times so I would recommend doing this on your last shave before replacing your razor so you can just toss it! Also, I'm not a bath person so I filled up the tub enough to cover my legs, drained it and then turned the shower on. This will always be a staple in my shower!!

  68. best thing ever, my legs have NEVER been softer, thank you so much! (:

  69. Tried it tonight with coconut oil and loved it. Thanks for the recipe!

  70. This worked WONDERFULLY. I even put it on my feet, used a pumice stone, rinsed, and used the scrub again. My feet are just as soft as my legs! (Which is very, very soft.)

    ReplyDelete
  71. From the comments it sounds like it helps with ingrown hairs. I don't have a problem but my husband does on his face. Would this work for him? You can't soak your face though.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I'm getting married on Saturday and had thinking about using this scrub but I'm getting a spray tan on Friday! Would the oils be bad for the spray tan? Any suggestions???

    ReplyDelete
  73. Rachel - yeah they tell you to make sure you don't have any oils on your skin when you go in for a spray tan! I would suggest using this scrub first thing Friday morning, then before you head in for your spray tan, take a shower and use a loofah and some kind of cleansing body wash to make sure you get all the oil off! I got my legs waxed before a spray tan before, and I was oily from that. I made sure I went home and really washed it all off. The spray tan came out great :)

  74. When you soak in the bath, first, add a cup or two of white vinegar. You will be AMAZED how much dead skin starts to rub off with that mild acid treatment. It's actually fascinating to soak your feet or legs in vinegar water, and then just rub with your fingers and watch the dead skin roll off. It's easy to soak your feet, but for your legs, you'll obviously need to take a bath, soak in the diluted vinegar for awhile, and then shower again when you are done. So add this step to your pre-shave soak ritual and prepare to be blown away at the expert results of vinegar on removing dry, dead skin.

  76. What type brand of Coconut oil and where could I buy it?

  77. If using coconut oil, which is what I use, Be careful of letting your dog lick your skin. Coconut oil has a violent diarrhea effect in dogs.... learned the hard way!!

  78. I want to try this, but am worried about my bathtub drain getting clogged (it already drains slow because of the angles in the pipes). Has anyone had any issues with this?

    2. A plumber told my parents to run hot water down the drain for 15 minutes at least once a month. If your drains are bad, try it more and see if that helps to clear the gunk in them.

  79. Just remember if you are diabetic you should not use sugar scrubs on your skin - hands legs or whatever.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Would the sugar be bad for your face? I used it on my legs and loved it!!!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Here's my experience: I followed the recipe except used half a cup of brown sugar, and the rest white sugar as that's what I had on hand. 1/2 cup olive oil, one cup Avon Skin So Soft as I was low on olive oil. I added bottled lemon juice as per recipe, and a couple of tablespoons of vanilla. It toned down the Skin so Soft smell. I soaked in a bath with a bit of ivory body wash and 2 cups of vinegar for 5-8 minutes, then sat on the side, scrubbed my feet and legs, then rinsed. Shaved my legs, then got in the shower and scrubbed from head to toe (not hair and not in the bikini area ahem...) and then shaved my armpits, then rinsed thoroughly- I felt a bit too oily, so I used a light lather of Avon Moisture Therapy wash- skin feels amazing! And a great close shave without nicks! Love it!

    ReplyDelete
  82. After mixing the ingredients together, do you let it stand for a bit to let it harden a little? I followed the recipe with 1 &1/2 cups of regular sugar, 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup coconut oil (i liquified before measuring it out), 5 tablespoons of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons vanilla & almond extract each. Hope I didn't overdo it!

  83. This is seriously AMAZING!!! Just tried it... Thanks a lot!

    1. You know you could have copied & pasted the article in a Word document or something, right?
But the thing is to complain.. Jeez, I don't understand people who can't solve problems by their own.

    2. You can also highlight the text with your cursor. It will show up white text on blue background. That might be easier to read.

    3. those people who say that the person was just complaining are obviously really negative people. i also found it hard to read the text because of the contrast. I think that commenting on that is fine because it could help the blogger make their blog better and is just a helpful suggestion so get off their back.

  87. I just made a half batch of this to test out. Used white sugar, olive oil, lemon juice and about a tsp of peppermint extract (I thought lemon/peppermint would be a decent combo.) I had to use some kind of extract to cover up the grassy olive oil scent. I suppose that means that I'm using decent EVOO, right?

I haven't tried this on my legs, but it's wonderful on my hands! They are super soft and look much better with the oil moisturizer than they normally do. I live in CO, so I typically have dry hands, especially with the amount of hand washing I do (lots of cooking and working in a school).

For years I've used St. Ives Apricot Scrub or something similar to exfoliate before I shave my legs. I scrub it in really well, rinse and then use a gentle cleanser to shave. It's worked very well, but it's expensive and sometimes the grains are too rough and scratch my legs a bit. It does help with razor burn and nicks, though. This should do the same thing without the drawbacks! I haven't used shaving cream in years. I find it drying and that it ruins my razors.

Thanks for posting this! At the very least, I'm going to make small jars with almond extract and coffee grounds to give to friends as Christmas treats. You know, the friends you don't want to spend a bunch of money on, but you really should get them something? This is it! In a cute little jar, it will be perfect!

  88. Do you have to put in the citrus? I don't have any but I would love to try this..

  89. Gluten Free Navy Wife,

Thanks for this! I've heard that exfoliating your skin before you shave helps get a closer shave, but I hadn't thought about how that would make my legs silky. :-) I'm anxious to try this! I perused the comments and want your opinion on exfoliating first and shaving once. Was there an important reason you said to shave first? I'm new to taking care of my body, like it's a precious treasure, so I'm so excited about your ideas! I also want to make sure I don't miss anything important :-)

  92. I call this my "special occasion" shave. Basically, if someone other than myself (wink wink) is going to be touching my legs I'll do it this way:
take a normal shower (or bath whichever) to get the hair soft.
1st shave using a foamy shaving cream like Skintimate
Exfoliate using Tree Hut sugar scrub (I have the Hawaiian kukui (sp?) one. It smells awesome, is super cheap, and lasts forever even with 3 girls in the house)
Shave again using a creamy shave product, I use the one by Skintimate that comes in the upside-down tubes.
Exfoliate one more time with a little less scrub than the first time.
Rinse and pat dry, but allowing some water to remain on the legs.
Moisturize (I use the body butter that goes with the scrub). This seals in the moisture left by the water as well as adding more.

My legs feel AH-mazing for days!

  100. I found that this recipe started to separate due to the oil in it... perfectly normal... but then i ended up with a bunch of really hard sugar in the bottom of my jar after using up all the oily stuff off the top... so for this batch i added a pinch of xanthan gum to keep it from separating... works so far :) - Noa

  101. Just used it. I had a lot left over so I put it in a tight sealed container and put it in the fridge because someone said if you used your hand to dip it, it could grow bacteria and I used my wet hands....Oh well my skin is now like silk. thanks so much

  104. You should never use dish soap as a bubble bath, body soap, or to lube up a slip and slide (lol). That stuff is formulated to digest proteins. Your skin is largely protein. My husband used dawn or Palmolive (can't remember which) to make a slip and slide slippery, and my three boys were screaming in pain aas they peed that night...their poor little penises were raw! And he only used a tiny bit on the slide. I don't even wash dishes without gloves anymore, hahaha

    ReplyDelete
  105. Amazing! How often can I use without making my legs raw?

    1. You might be scrubbing too vigorously. When you use it don't use all of your muscles and scrub hard. Just rub like you are putting on lotion, that was enough to work for me, I had one spot where I rubbed really hard and it started getting red.

  109. I just tried this...from Tanzania. There is not a lot that makes me feel like a girl here. I have to take cold bucket showers, and I am always a mess. I love it though. However, is nice to focus on me once in a while. I sat out in the sun, in my court yard, put some music on, and shaved and scrubbed my legs. They look wonderful! And feel great too. I'll definitely be using this one again.

  110. Just used this and it is AMAZING! It makes enough for a bunch of uses, next time I'm going to get a yummy smelling oil, I used olive oil and while it doesn't leave too much of a scent, I just don't care for it while I am using it. Can I use a little essential oil to make it smell even better?

    ReplyDelete
  111. Just FYI, bubble baths are a no go for us ladies and especially our girls. Unless of course a urinary tract infection is your idea of fun. Sadly, as a pediatric RN I have lots and lots of experience with this. Sit on the side of the tub. Showers for your daughters. No it's not as fun as bubbles but you guys who have gone through it know what I mean.

  113. This is the best thing I have ever found on pinterest!! My legs feel awesome. I am totally disgusted by what was left behind in the tub, i'm not sure if it was skin or sugar but eww. Thank you!

  114. Great post, thanks! Have done this several times, and it never ceases to amaze. Found that I could repurpose a squeeze-type hair conditioner bottle (sterilized, of course) to use for storing the mix. Then I wouldn't infect it with water, yes?

  115. Ok so I only have a stand up shower no tub and I tried this by getting in the shower for a minute and then turning it off to use the scrub...worked awesome I even used it on my feet! .... btw to help with the smeel of regular oil I used ground cinnamon ... thanks for the recipe I LOVE IT!!!

  117. Thanks for this post. I have seen other sites but they used dish soap and other random ingredients. I just made some from homegrown grapefruits and shea coco butter baby oil from J&J. So soft i rinsed in the shower then just rubbed in the extra oil instead of lotion. Used it everywhere not just my legs.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I have tried this a couple of times. Not totally convinced that it was dead skin coming off, I did an experiment. First, I scrubbed, shaved
again and saw all of the stuff on my razor. Then I used NY regular shaving soap and shaved the other leg, applied the scrub but did it gently and shaved again and I saw the same stuff on the razor. I thing all the stuff is really just the oils. But that being said, my legs were very soft.

  120. Great tip for cleaning the tub or shower after using the scrubs or any product with oil in it... get one of those kitchen scrub pads with a handle that can be filled with soap... but fill it with some dawn and vinegar. I keep it in the shower in a small plastic cup... upside down (so the sponge is always at the top)... I keep it above my shower on a small shelf. After every shower or bath, I just give every surface a quick scrub and a quick rinse... and then I'm good to go! Easy!
